I like your comment - I could have written it myself. We have a 5th grade boy, a 4th grade girl and a 1st grade girl. Sometimes it's fun (if they're willing) to let them work with each other to get problems done. Our school hands out worksheet answers and problem solving tips for parents at the beginning of each unit. Then at least we know if we're on the right track.
