How do you entertain your kids on road trips?

We thankfully have a DVD player in our car. My teenagers usually bring their I-Pods and just listen to music the entire way. Before we had those things they usually read books...

Is it ok to let kids take "mental health" days off from school?

I guess it depends on how badly they need it, what's going on in their life, etc. If they can take time off when they're physically ill, I don't see why they can't take time off...
