my son figured it out when he was 8, and he never has told his little sister. He is now 11 and still keeps the secret from her. She's will find out though soon she 8, and asking questions like " Is Santa Real?" I tell "what do you think?" and she always says "I think he is", I reply "if you believe in him then he is real" which is not a total lie. Kids need something that is still Pure and Good to believe in.
