I work outside the home (16+ years in my career now) and my 9 year old attends public school. We are originally from a rural farming community with a strong, close-net family background so we are very fortunate that my current duty station has us within about a one-hour drive of family and friends. We visit as often as possible between my work and my Daughter's ballet and piano lessons as well as her school Chorus and Girl Scout activities. She is an avid reader and currently is in two books clubs - which also allows me time for my own reading pursuits. We love to travel and Walt Disney World is our favorite spot. Whether it is a weekend day-trip around home here in Kentucky, a trip across the US wit Mom (my Daughter always travels with me on work related trips), or a planned family vacation we enjoy getting out and visitng places around our country and meeting people.

I usually tell people that we are far more Andy Griffith / I Love Lucy than current "reality TV" and we are "Traditional Disney" buffs for sure -- my Daughter still misses the original Mickey Mouse Club show after Disney Channel programming removed it from the line up (why we still can't figure out). So we buy DVDs of we can't watch on TV and enjoy our many other activities.
