The Invitations

Visit your local warehouse, discount or dollar store and buy a honey-filled plastic bear for each child. Fold a yellow 3-by-5 index card in half, and on the outside use black ink to write out one of Pooh's favorite songs: On the inside of the card, write "It's a Winnie-the-Pooh Party and I'm Inviting You and Pooh, Too!" alongside the date, address and other details of your event. Punch a hole in the top left corner of the card and thread a wired honey bee found at floral, craft and hobby stores through the hole to secure the card around each bear's neck. (Alternatively, a length of red satin ribbon tied in a bow works just fine). On another index card, write out this recipe for Pooh's Honey Bee Mines. Cushion the honey bear in red tissue paper inside a cardboard mailing tube, tuck in the recipe card to share with Mom, and either hand-deliver the child's invitation to your child's classmates or send it to party guests through the post office. |
What to Serve

Kanga's Pita Pouch Sandwiches: Kids will love individually-wrapped Kanga's Pita Pouch Sandwiches with Garden Egg Salad. The guest of honor can help make and package the sandwiches the night before the event. If you'd like an alternative to the egg salad, make chicken and tuna salad. Set out bowls of each and let little guests choose their favorite, then stuff and wrap their own as part of the festivities. For dessert, these Buzz-worthy Bee Cupcakes and Hive (pictured above) are cute enough to double as a centerpiece throughout the event, yet not too hard to make. In fact, there are a number of simple steps that will help kids learn the basics of baking while also working on age-appropriate development skills.

Pooh's Hunny Pots & Party Game make the perfect Pooh "craftivity." Kids can make and personalize their own. Once they've dried, turn the pots into a color matching game -- and then send everyone home a winner with a memory they've made and a favor they'll cherish. |
