Know what your cell phone plan provides and what costs extra and let your child know as well. Today not only do kids want to talk on their cell phones, they want to download music, text message, play games, take pictures, etc. Some of these extra costs add up. Having a cell phone requires responsibility on your child's part and if they aren't responsible controlling the usage of their phone, perhaps making them foot part of the bill through an allowance will help control the way they use it.
