Homeschooling is a choice for parents who want another option for their children besides the traditional local public school system, private schools, parochial schools, charter schools, etc. Parents fed up with traditional schooling might rush to choose homeschooling, but there are many factors to consider before choosing to homeschool.

Do you have the discipline to keep your children on a schedule so that they learn their lessons?
Do your children have the discipline -- or do you have the wherewithal to teach them -- to stay on task and not get distracted by the TV or the sound of the ice cream truck?
Do your children have other outlets for peer-to-peer social interaction?

This is not an exhaustive list, but if the answer to these questions is "yes," then exploring homeschooling might interest you. There is a vibrant community of homeschooling parents and resources online, so the Web should be one of the first places to look for answers. This community of homeschooling parents can provide advice and recommendations based on their own experiences.
