Healthy Eating Habits
Kids get their eating habits from their parents. So watch what and how you eat. Do you eat enough fruits and vegetables? How many sweets, sugary snacks and junk food do you consume? Are you setting the right example? It's one thing to want your kid to eat healthy and grow big and strong but if your eating habits reflect the "do as I say, not as I do" tendencies, it is going to be a losing battle no matter how old they are.
My son who is four years old is a very good eater, for the most part he really likes his veggies. Last night my wife and I were having a conversation on how well he eats. To my surprise my wife seems to think I give him to much food and make him over eat (over endulging). I give him what I think is medium portions of a well balanced meal (ex. chicken, vegetables, and potatoes). I don't make him clean his plate but I prefer him to leave the table full so he doesn't fill up later on junk food. I won't let him have dessert unless he eats a good supper, this usually prompts him to eat pretty well.
My wife seems to think because he will have a bowel movement usually following supper (sometimes he has to leave during the meal) that he is over eating. Please know that he usually only has one BM per day.
Am I over feeding him?
