Rudeness

Teach niceness through niceness. If you expect your child to say please and thank you, you must say please and thank you to them and those around you as well. Also, if you are reprimanding your child for doing something wrong, do it with respect for the child. Harsh criticism is painful and doesn't always get the point across. Kids are just learning the rules of social etiquette and it's up to their parents to teach them the correct behaviors of kindness, respect and caring for others. Our cues set the standard so above all, we need to treat our children with the same kindness we want them to bestow on others. If we do this, we are ahead of the game when it comes to teaching manners.
