According to Emily Post, thank you notes are about teaching your child the importance of gratitude. Even if they are too young to write a complete thank you note, they should at least be a part of the process. Have them sit down with you as you write the notes and tell you who gave them what gift. If they can, let them personally sign each one. As your child gets older there are great pre-written cards that only require the child to enter the name of the person, the gift received and a signature. Getting them started early on writing thank you notes will help them understand the importance of them later.
