I have a 17 year old daughter, who has a pretty good head on her shoulders but....Why is love so blinding at this age? She has had goals since 8th grade of becoming a teacher and missionary. This is a strong calling on her life that I am not sure I am ready for but then she fell in love. Her goals started changing and she decided she could not go away to college ("the boy") is going to a home town college. She still said she wanted to be a missionary but was now thinking maybe she could just stay around here and do this with the local migrant workers. I am not saying this is a bad goal. I am just saying I know her heart changed because at 16 she is in love for the first time. I am still in the middle of this story at this moment. I can tell you "the boy" has a good head on his shoulders and broke up with her because he is not sure he wants to be a missionary and he did not want to ruin her life by her changing her goals. They still talk every day but at this moment they are not officially dating. I sure appreciated my mother more now that I realize what I put her through. I think I better go call her and thank her for always being there for me during those turbulent times.
