We have a list of "Family Dating Rules" which we go over quickly with our children when they are ready to date. It's posted above our family computer which is more effective after the sitdown chat with Mom and Dad, as they can look over it and think on it, in their own time.
1. Check your plans with Mom and Dad first before you ask or accept a date to avoid embarrassment if we have to say, "no."
2. Let Mom and Dad know the who, what, where and when, including the home phone of your date.
3. Always bring cash and a cellphone, even if the date offers to pay. Have a full tank of gas if you are driving.
3B. Chivalry rules in this family. Gentlemen pay, hold doors, pick up at the door, and her curfew is your curfew.
3G. Ladies date smart. You are responsible for meeting your curfew, be sure your date clearly understands this and bring your own money for your own safety.
4. God made teenagers to be teenagers. Leave decisions on whether or not to engage in adult activities for when your are an adult, with a little more experience, wisdom, and capabilities!
5. Have fun. We love you. Call us for anything!
