Materialism
As parents, we set the example for our children. If we are overly concerned with what we have as compared to our friends, our children will display the same concerns. It is not possible for us to buy enough material items to achieve happiness. The only way to really become happy is through service to others. Finding opportunities for kids to serve in the community is a great way to teach them that hard work and helping others is what really makes a person happy. Families serving together really bonds the family and brings more unity and love into those relationships. Service to others who are less fortunate can really help kids appreciate what they have and not feel like they have to keep up with others. The security they will have from a healthy self-esteem is priceless.
