I do know that the why stage can sometimes be so annoying and my patience would wear thin with my three older children but I have an autistic son now. I would love to hear him say why or understand when I tell him a reason I want him to do something. I am not trying to sound insensitive to this sometimes frustrating season in life but I long for my son to not just repeat my questions or answers to him and really ask the question why.
On a different not my friend used notecards for the day ( I can not remember how many) and every time their little one said why they had to hand her one of their notecards once they were out of cards for the day they would not get an answer from the parent. I do not know if I agree with this method because kids are learning so much at this age and are just curious. I think the kids and her made the notecards with stickers and markers and they were laminated.
