If you do enroll your child in group lessons, make sure you have an eagle eye on the class and instructor. We had our 4 year old in a group class (5 students) and the instructor would toss a toy into the middle of the lane for one child to retrieve, then shen as the kid(s) were in the middle of the pool (5+ feet of water) she would turn her back on the them to instruct the other kids. Had one gone under, the only way she would have known is because the parents would have jumped in the pool!
No more group lessons for us. I pulled him from the class after seeing that episide, and let the director know what happened.
