Sometimes called toilet learning, this milestone is eagerly embraced by parents, albeit often too enthusiastically. As many preschools require that children be potty trained before enrolling, this often adds to parents' eagerness.

A child must demonstrate that they are indeed ready to tackle this huge milestone. The age of readiness varies, though the American Academy of Pediatrics says that it occurs generally between 18 to 30 months.

Folk wisdom says that girls train faster than boys -- and some recent research studies confirm this notion -- but there's no reason to hesitate with your son. All children are different....

I have a three year old who refuses to do #2 in the potty. I have tried everything from charts, incentive, etc. Has anyone else had any experience or can anyone offer any advice? Thanks!

A friend on mine is manufacturing a potty chair with a tray that will contain interchangeble toy sets for the age group 18 to 30 months.

not sure if this is a good idea, but I will certainly try it

 

I have a 5 year old that is in kindergarten and I'm having a terrible time with her peeing her pants! We've been to a specialist and they have said there was nothing wrong anitomically and did what they suggested and nothing is working..I'm at my wits end and don't know what to do!

Need Encouragement!
