My story about: Potty Talk

crazedparent_cpb's story

August 23, 2007

When my oldest son was 3, he loved potty talk. Finally, we told him that he could only use potty talk in the bathroom. If he was using potty talk, we told him, it clearly meant that he had to actually use the potty.

One day I was in the kitchen when I heard him yelling, "Come here you little poo poo," in a John Wayne-esque voice. It got louder and louder, and finally he said.

"Mommy, I'm using potty talk! I'm in the potty, so it's okay!"

I guess our idea worked...sort of.

It faded after a while, but he stopped using potty talk in public. I can't say the same for when he's in the tub...
