Tanning, while it might make you look healthy, is not the best choice for being healthy, especially when you're pregnant.

A tan is a sign that your skin has been exposed to -- and damaged by -- ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. (Exposure to UV rays triggers your body to make melanin, a pigment that darkens to protect your skin from further damage.) Studies have consistently shown that exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) ages your skin prematurely and increases your risk of developing cancer. This is true whether you got tan in the sun or used a tanning bed.

Also, keep in mind that repeated exposure to UVR has a cumulative effect, so even if you're not burning, your skin is getting damaged over...
