All the books tell you light exercise is OK during pregnancy as long as your doctor or midwife signs off. But what exactly is light exercise? And is it always safe?

In other words, now is not the time to get into shape for your next marathon. Instead, find exercises that help you ease some of the discomforts of pregnancy, get ready for labor, and bounce back postpartum.
As long as your doctor or midwife approves, you can safely exercise during pregnancy. And, it's especially important to discuss your fitness routine with her if you play contact sports or do activities that have a high risk of falling.
