Here are some common changes you might notice.

Here are some common changes you might notice.

Linea nigra: Along with other color changes (your once-pink nipples may turn brown, moles may darken, etc.) caused by hormonal changes in your body, you may develop a dark line from your navel to your pubic bone. This will fade (though your nipples may never be pink again).

Spider veins: These veins look like little spider webs on the body, commonly on the legs or torso. They are caused by the capillaries below the surface of the skin becoming more visible. You may also get spider veins on your face or on the whites of your eyes during delivery. Vicki Iovine, author of The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy" says in this case Mom was right: To avoid bursting blood vessels, don't push too hard (though, will you really be worrying about spider veins while trying to get that baby out of you?).

Acne: You are undergoing as many hormone changes as during puberty, and you should expect acne on your face, back, and other parts of your body.

PUPP rash: According to Dr. William Sears, 1 percent of pregnant women get this uncomfortable but benign condition: pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy. That's a fancy name for the itchy red pimples that occur on the belly, legs, behind, and hands and feet. The cause is unknown, but the AAD says that women who gain excessive weight or are expecting twins are more likely to get it. This rash typically occurs in the third trimester and goes away after delivery.

Skin tags: New skin tags often appear during pregnancy. Although they may get smaller by themselves, to remove them permanently consult your health care provider.

Itchy, dry skin: Your skin can itch like crazy when you're pregnant. Find ways to help soothe it.
