Suddenly your favorite foods not only smell awful to you but the thought of eating them makes you want to vomit. This is a common condition of pregnancy known as food aversion.
Food aversions are one of the earliest symptoms of pregnancy and, although they usually abate after the first trimester, some women find themselves disgusted by certain foods throughout their pregnancies.
Some experts speculate that food aversions may be a natural protective measure to keep you from eating potentially harmful foods, but according to W. Allan Walker and Courtney Humphries, authors of "The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating During Pregnancy," there is no scientifically proven reason for food aversions.
