Devra, I saw your story and wanted to add mine. My older daughter was a spitter as a baby, too. From the very beginning she would spit up after every bottle, and no change in formula or adding rice helped. She was even prescribed Zantac and Prevacid, but they didn't really help much.
Amazinly, even with all of the spitting up, she gained weight without any problem. At a year old she was in the 97th percentile for weight! So I guess even with all of her reflux she was still getting plenty of food.
She took bottles up until 18 months old, and still occasionally spit up at 18 months old. She grew out of it before she turned 2, although she still has a very sensitive gag reflex and occasionally plays too hard and upsets her stomach, or eats something too fast, causing it to come back up. I guess some kids have more delicate systems than others.
