How to Make Baby Food
I have a 7 year old son and a 5 month old daughter, and by trial and error I have found some simple tricks that work for our family.
Get yourself one of those mini food grinders that fit in the diaper bag. It is great for older babies and when you go to Grandma's house or out to eat. You can grind up some of your food that it age appropriate for your baby and you don't have to drag bowls/jars of baby food with you.
I would spend one day a week making baby food. On that day I would make three or four foods that I decided I was going to make large batches of. I liked to buy a pound each (or how much you think your baby would eat in a week) of the veggie at the farmers market and then cook the food that day. Doing them in bigger batches and then freezing the food helps to make it feel like you aren't constantly making baby food. I would then supplement the big batches with food that I was already making for my family and grind up a small batch for that feeding.
My daughter likes combinations of food, not just a single food. So to give her a larger variety of combinations, instead of freezing the mix of two or three foods and then freezing them, I combine them right before I feed her. I can mix the applesauce with just about anything instead of being stuck with apple/pear mix that I had already made.
