Are there any products I can buy to make co-sleeping safer?

Products such as co-sleeping nests with a tiny lip around the edge to keep the baby from rolling can help make co-sleeping safer.

Is it healthy and safe to sleep in the same bed as my children?

Don't be afraid of co-sleeping. I did it with BOTH my kids and they are normal, well adjusted and very well RESTED children. We all slept better in those early, sleep deprived days. Keep in mind people AROUND THE WORLD do this, and its only in the US that it gets a bad rap. You only need a few things to make it safe...like one of those co-sleeping nests you can lay in the middle of your bed so there is a tiny lip and the baby can't roll. You will know where your child is at ALL times, hear him/her breathing and be able to breastfeed without having to get up and trek to the nursery. Both my children now sleep happily and CONFIDENTLY in their own beds after  2 years of cosleeping with Mom and Dad. We ALL slept better.

*I am a mother of one happy and energetic 21month old.  She has shared our bed since the day she was born.  I would not trade that experience for the world.  What people dont know and arent told is that SIDS can happen while the child is on their back too.  So stop freaking out about the bed sharing bashing.  Do what your heart is telling you is best for your child.

*Co-sleeping is practiced throughout the world, though it often is portrayed negatively in the U.S. Ultimately, it is the well-being of both child and parent that determines your sleeping practices.

Parents need not be afraid of co-sleeping. Many children who co-sleep as infants grow up to be normal, well-adjusted, and well-rested children who sleep in their own beds. Co-sleeping can help parents cope during the early, sleep-deprived days by allowing nursing mothers an opportunity to breastfeed without having to trek to the nursery. Other advantages of co-sleeping are knowing where your child is and hearing him/her breathing at all times. ..,
