My story about: Weight Gain

When my daughter was about 15 months, her father took her in for a regular wellness visit and found that she had had a sudden drop in weight gain. Her chart showed this dramatic looking arrow pointing south and I became osbsessive about stuffing food into her. I made french toast for breakfast, milkshakes for snack, cheese cubes all throughout the day, butter on everything. The poor kid gained so much weight in the 6 week period before we had to bring her back in and I'm sure I gave her little system quite a shock.
As we thought about it, we remembered that she had had the stomach flu twice in the month prior to her doctor visit and the loss was likely attributable to that. She would have gained back all that weight quite easily on her own. Once again, my mothering took on a form of temporary insanity when I should have left well enough alone.
