Playing can also teach responsibility and self independence. Keep a lower drawer in your full of plastic bowls and cups available to your child. Whenever you are in the kitchen preparing meals, keep the drawer open for them to rustle around in. Let them bang the cups together, throw them on the floor, try to eat them. Let them know that these bowls and cups are for them to use at the table. If you can find them in different colors and sizes, you can use them to help your child learn their colors. You can also use them for your child's snacks. When it is snack time, let your child get their own bowl out of the drawer. They will feel so proud to be able to help and that they can independently choose which bowl they want for their Cheerios.
