I think that nanny sharing may be a very good way to go when it comes to having what is essentially a private nanny - on your schedule, in your home (or someone's that you know), etc. Having a nanny in this day and age is very expensive.
Nanny salaries keep going up which makes it difficult for some families. This is not to say that the nannies aren't worth every penny! In some cases they are. It's just that with cost of living as it is, nannies need to make a living too, which can mean that even though I want a private nanny, I can't afford one.
But the real issue for me is that it is hard to find a nanny willing to do a nanny share! Most nannies want to be paid more if there are more kids. So, you are not getting to just split the cost of a nanny - as if there was one child.
Also, a lot of nannies dont want to work for two families - to put themselves in the middle of potential conflics or having to choose one family over another.
As I said, I think nanny-sharing could be a great idea -- it's just harder to put together than I had imagined it would be.
Has anyone else had this issue?
