Breastfeeding in Public
Nothing like a controversial subject such as breastfeeding in public to get everyone's ire up! Although nearly everyone agrees that breastfeeding is the best choice of nourishment for babies, not everyone thinks it should be done in public. Whether you are discreet about it or not, chances are you will get looks, snickers and even the occasional comment about your choice to breastfeed in public. A 2005 CRS Report for Congress (http://maloney.house.gov/documents/olddocs/breastfeeding/050505CRSReport.pdf) defines breastfeeding rights for women in all fifty states. Believe it or not, in the state of Ohio a woman sued the state because she was denied the privilege to breastfeed in a public place and she lost the case. Luckily, most states do support public breastfeeding and if you ever find yourself intimidated by someone telling you to stop, stand your ground; after all, everyone eats in public sometime.
