- Why did you decide to implement single-sex classes at this school?
- What is your philosophy regarding single-sex instruction?
- What types of professional development did your teaching staff receive prior to implementing the single-sex classes? (This is the BIG one. Most schools don't bother to train their teachers for this very different kind of classroom environment.)
- Will the all-boys and all-girls classes have the same resources? Curriculum? If yes, then what will be different about the single-sex classes?
The answers to these questions will go a long way toward revealing to you just what your local school has in mind by implementing single-sex classes, and whether it is the appropriate place for your child.
