Coping With Labor-Related Fears

full star full star full star full star empty star Rated by 4 members

The best way to combat this particular fear is to arm yourself with the facts. Read as much as you can about giving birth. Sign up for childbirth classes. And talk to your doctor or midwife about your various pain relief options. If you're still feeling pretty freaked out, remind yourself that generations of women have walked this road before and lived to tell. You will, too.

Coping With Labor-Related Fears

I've had three kids and had labor induced all three times. With my first child I was given a sapository, with my second child who was 8 days late, my water was manually broken to induce the hard labor (boy was that fun!), with my third, I chose the day I wanted to give birth and went to the hospital that day and was given a labor inducer drug. That was okay until the labor pains came so fast and hard and painful that I had to have a 'spinal' just so I would dilate. That was fun too. One way or another babies do make it into this world.

I think this is a really helpful article. My first baby was induced so I didn't know what to expect with the second. In the end my water broke while I was in the bath tub at home dilating about 2-3 cm. Here is my birth story: http://www.mamawell.com/mamawell/2007/02/baby-leia-6lbs-and-110z-cuuuuuuuuuute-plus-my-honest-account-of-delivery-and-what-you-need-to-take-to-the-hospital.html

I think this is all really helpful. My first labor was induced so I really didn't know what to expect the second time round. In the end my water broke while in the bathtub may 2-3cm dilated. Here's my birth story. Would love to hear yours....
