I have a daughter that is 2 years old. And everytime i try to encourage her to use the potty. She refuses to go. and at night she wets her bed. What do I do?.

I don't claim to be an expert in the area of potty training, but I do have 3 grown kids and 9 grandkids, and this seems to be one of the areas that most parents get all wigged-out over, and it often becomes a major power struggle. If I could share just 1 thing, it would be that we as parents don't really potty train our kids; we educate them on the "what, when, why, where" of it all and WHEN THE CHILD IS READY, THEY will make it happen almost overnight!!

I don't understand why a child has to talk in sentences before he is ready to be trained! If a 2 month old puppy can learn, a 1-1/2 to 2-year-old can. A puppy does not already know the meaning of Wet, Dry, Clean, Wash, Sit or Go. I trained my 20 month old in just a few days, and that is how she learned the meanings of those words. We had no more accidents after 2 weeks. Bedwetting stopped soon after. She also took it upon herself to teach her teddy bear how to use the potty. There is plenty of information out there on how to do this. This was a time for learning how to follow directions and instructions, and that they can be proud of their own accomplishments. This does not have to be so stressful.

The quiz was great! And some of the other tips on here helped me in helping me with potty training my 3 year old. I think he almost has it down to a science. Now its a fun thing to do, instead of a chore for him. I was trying everything I could before but since I got tips on this website and the quiz i took, it has helped even more as to what I need to do in addition to what I was doing before. Thank You!

This was helpful. My twins are getting there but not quite yet. I am betting my daughter will be ready first, but I am also betting that if she is trying that herbrother is going to want to try too. Boy am I gonna have fun trying to train two of them! It should be quite an adventure.

It looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and potty-train her, won't I. Even if I said "undecided" to the last question!

This is an interesting quiz. Based on my answers, my daughter is still not really ready for potty training yet, even though she's approaching 3 years old. I guess some just take longer than others.
