Isnt it the best when your kids want to get creative and do some messy art projects? Isnt it even better when its not at your house?
Spare your slipcovers from yet another dousing of Goo Gone and take your kids to Play Cafe in Los Angeles (a few blocks east of the Grove) for a morning of MESSY ART.
Kids put on smocks, grab a paintbrush, and have their own easels to create to their hearts content. After they have finished their masterpieces, they can munch on an organic snack in the community area. Then they can play with some great wooden toys in the community play area - my son has to be dragged away from the train table. Stay for a Storytime or snuggle up and read to them yourselves. They have a lovely collection of classic childrens books.
Started by a local Mom and Dad, of course, Play Cafe was designed to be a local hang-out for families with young children. MESSY ART is just one of their terrific offerings. You can subscribe to a monthly membership for their community play area, or just drop in and pay a $7.00 fee for messy art. You can also sign up for an on-going Music Together Series, Sign Language Classes, or a Mixed Media Art Class. Play Cafe also can put together a fabulous birthday party for your little ones. And for the holidays, they are currently taking reservations for a CD recording workshop where for $25.00 your child will be professionally recorded and mixed singing three of their favorite songs. If your child singing their own rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is not the perfect gift for Nana, I dont know what is.
So go, play, hang out, and let them get messy, really really messy.
