Its gotten chilly at the park lately, but my kids need to move and run and jump but preferably not in my living room. Happily, I just discovered a fabulous indoor playground in Pasadena.

Amys Playground on historic Mission Street is terrific. I took my kids there the other day and they ran and jumped and played for several hours and could have stayed all day.

What I liked particularly about Amys was that there were enough activity areas to keep both my kids (2 and 5) very happy. Theres a huge bouncy with an attached slide, a playhouse, a climbing structure (think tubes you might see in a mouse cage) balls, and even a small bouncy for kids three and under. For infants there is a lovely matted area they can play in and not be bombarded by kids twice their size.

The place is well designed, cheerful, and tastefully decorated. Amy told me that she wanted a place where the parents would feel comfortable, too. She doesnt blast annoying kids music. The walls are exposed brick. She has some overstuffed furniture in which parents can relax. Free coffee is provided and even wireless Internet hook up. There is an adorable boutique attached that sells educational toys. You can stay all day if you like, and you dont pay extra. Bring your own food, or buy a healthy snack there. You can even go in the morning and come back after lunch for the same fee: $8 for 2yrs. & over, under 2 is $6. She also gives a break of $6 for siblings.

Amys Indoor Playground is open Monday thru Friday, ten to six, but closed on weekends for birthday parties, a great spot for a party! So, next time you want to wear your kids out, give Amys Playground a try. Bring socks, as they are required for both parents and kids.

Pasadena is not as far as you think, and sometimes I find driving a distance with my kids relaxing almost. At least I know they are strapped in, and for little while, will be in one place.
