Wouldn't it be great to get the skinny on local daycares, without doing all the legwork yourself? Well you can, through a business called WarmLines. They'll let you know key info like the locations and types of specific childcare providers, as well as their rates. While you as the parent still need to make the hard decisions, and certainly interview the daycares on your shortlist, these referrals can jumpstart your search, saving you loads of time and effort.
I personally have used a childcare referral service from WarmLines, which is actually offered through my full time employer as a benefit. Moms should check with their employers to see if a WarmLines Resource and Referral Program is available at their workplace too.
But you don't need to have such a generous employer, as a multitude of WarmLines services are available to the community at large. Some are even free, while others are available for a fee. WarmLines' offerings include:
A New Babies/New Moms support group
A New Babies/New Parents support group
Parenting 1-2-3, a support group for parents of young
children
Child Care Connection, to help parents find childcare
Let's Make Music!
Drop-In Playgroups
InfoLines, a bi-monthly parents' resource magazine
Infant Massage
Infant and Child CPR
Speaker Series
Preschool Guide
Day Camp Connection
Special Events, including education and entertainment
Volunteer opportunities.
What a great way to extend the special care we give to our children and families! A hint to moms who want to take advantage of all these offerings: paid membership options are available. This means you'd get lots of free and discounted services included in the price, for either a one- or two-year membership. Try it!
