Whether you're in the mood for a sweet indulgence or hankering for something a bit more substantial, one of my San Diego favorites has gotten even better!

A La Francaise, which opened 25 years ago, recently moved from Mission Hills to an expanded new location in Normal Heights! In addition to the incredible French breads and pastries it is famous for, the new spot offers an expanded menu for breakfast and lunch, as well as sidewalk dining, so you can really embrace your inner Parisian.

Breakfast and lunch are served all day and you can choose from fabulous crepes, hearty omelets, divine Belgian waffles, yummy quiches and both hot and cold sandwiches. Even while dining with the French, my tastes tend to run on the simple side and my personal favorite is the French Dip served with sauce au jus. Not quite the best for maintaining ones girlish figure but, heck, Im pregnant so Ill take the French Dip AND the fried potatoes, thank you very much.

Of course, the cafs bread and butter (ugh weak pun) are its incredible breads and pastries. As a starter, your charming waitstaff (I mean it, each one of them is nicer than the last!) will bring you a little croissant to get started. And let me tell you, it is everything a croissant is supposed to be! Warm, buttery, flaky scrumptious! Youll also want to be sure to hi the dessert counter on your way out. They have a chocolate clair that is no other way to describe it to die for!

The atmosphere is light, bright and relaxing with exposed brick walls and artwork from local artists adorning the walls A La Francaise is the perfect spot for grabbing a bit with your honey or your girlfriends. Or, even better, grab yourself a French Vogue and head off for a little Parisian holiday right in Normal Heights!
