The holidays can be an added stress in an already hectic life. To help survive and also enjoy the holiday season, we're offering our five no fail tips that will bring the joy back to the season.
- Supper in a Snap! The holidays are a time of gluttony,
but food is to be enjoyed, so if any part of the preparation
process makes you want to scream, it's not worth it. You can
always prepare ahead by ordering from gourmet or chain
supermarkets and the most you'll have to do is figure out
presentation. Or make the preparation fun for the whole
family by turning on some great music, opening a bottle of
wine, assigning various friends and relatives to tasks, and
starting the party in the kitchen! Before you know it, dinner
will be served.
- A Little "Me" Time: The one thing we seem to always
forget about the holidays - the time is supposed to be a
vacation! Get a pedicure, take a long bath or try some yoga
for mommies! Yoga is the perfect way to stretch, tone, and
balance the mind and body. Even the most basic moves will
provide a stress-free, manageable home workout that will
yield valuable mental results if followed just three times a
week!
- Girls Night Out (or in!): As every Modern Mom knows,
maintaining friendships is vital to our sanity but who's got
the time to plan a night with the gals? Whether it's a movie
night, spa trip or book club dinner, if it's been months
since you've spent quality time with your girlfriends, take
the initiative and set up a gathering.
- Gift Giving: To ease this most stressful aspect of the
holidays, make tiers of gifts and recipients by planning out
what you're capable of spending and exploring homemade ideas
(such as baked goods in festive containers or custom photo
albums filled with sentimental photos.
- Manage Guests/Parties: The holidays can overwhelm kids, as well as adults, with houseguests, visitors and holiday parties. Know when to say "no" for everyone's sake or you'll start the New Year off with a grudge.

One way to beat the stress during holiday season is to pick up a sport. Not a sporty person? Just go for jogs or a swim, and exercise the stress away! Who says you cannot slim down during the holidays.
