For mothers who work outside the home, the transition from bottles to boardrooms can be a difficult one. Balancing the new role of mother with that of career woman, wife, friend, chef, and even part time chauffer can be the biggest challenge some women ever face, but a new survey shows that most mothers dont mind all the juggling as much as they mind being way from their babies.
In a recent survey conducted on ModernMom.com, a leading online magazine and community featuring advice, tips, inspiration and news, more than one-third of mothers (34 percent) said the hardest part of going back to work after having a baby is the separation anxiety that comes from leaving their precious bundles behind.
Moms were asked, What was the hardest part of going back to work after having a baby? Their responses:
Separation anxiety 34%
Sleep deprivation 27%
Pumping breast milk 19%
Getting home on time 8%
Catching up 7%
Leaving work at work 5%
"I remember vividly the emotional struggles I experienced
when I returned to work after the birth of my children, and
specifically the tremendous guilt I faced being away from them,
says Lolita Carrico, Founder of Modern Mom. I soon realized
and I know many women do that not only would we all adapt to
the change, but that the satisfaction and mental stimulation of
my work was good for me, and in turn, good for my kids.
