10 Questions: Ming-Na

In my weekly column "10 Questions," I chat with an inspirational mom about her family, career and more.
Up this week: actress Ming-Na, who first won attention with her critically acclaimed performance as June in Wayne Wang's feature film "The Joy Luck Club," and most recently starred in FOX's "Vanished."
Ming-Na is mom to 5-year-old Michaela and son, Cooper, who turns one this month.
Lolita: What is a Modern Mom?
Ming-Na: A mom of any age who is trying to do it all but is also flexible and confident.
Lolita: What's your secret to balancing career and family?
Ming-Na: Prioritizing -- my family always comes first because that's what matters most. My career took a backseat for a while after my daughter was born and I have stopped doing movies completely.
Lolita: What do you want to teach your children?
Ming-Na: I want to teach them to be confident in their
choices, to make good decisions, and be happy with who they
are.
Lolita: What's your favorite family activity?
Ming-Na: We just love hanging out together -- going to movies, playing board games.
Lolita: What did your parents teach you about parenting?
Ming-Na: My mom taught me to always set a good example in yourself, respect your elders -- which is very important in my culture, and appreciate your family.
Lolita: What is your greatest achievement?
Ming-Na: I'd like to say it's yet to come... Ultimately, it will be my children growing to be happy, successful, loving and well-adjusted.
Lolita: Who is your role model?
Ming-Na: First and foremost, my mom. She endured a cultural revolution and still was able to raise a strong and happy family. And, secondly, I admire Oprah.
Lolita: What do you do when you're feeling selfish?
Mina-Na: I cherish my alone time. Usually, I jump in the tub for an hour and regenerate.
Lolita: What product can't you live without?
Ming-Na: HGTV! I love watching their programs, but after painting my nursery last year, I have to say they make it seem so easy and quick! At least for me, it was a huge project that took forever!
Ming-Na currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband, actor/writer Eric Michael Zee, and their two children.
