If a Modern Mom is a woman who defines her priorities and willfully lives by them, then actress Brooke Burke certainly qualifies. The 35-year-old mother of three daughters says that she and her family are a package deal in other words, if Brookes job requires her to travel to far-flung places around the globe, then she makes it known that shell be taking her girls with her.

The former host of CBSs reality series Rock Star: Supernova and E!s travel series Wild On is presently enjoying some home time with her third daughter, eight-month-old Heaven Rain Charvet, and building a home with her partner, French-born actor David Charvet. Heres what she had to say about balancing children, work and love.

Modern Mom: What's your definition of a Modern Mom?

Brooke: I think moms today are living a more active lifestyle while maintaining their devotion to their families. I have accomplished more as a mother than I did as a single woman.

Modern Mom: What's your secret to balancing career and family?

Brooke: Being okay with the chaos! Seriously, I try to schedule my professional priorities around my familys needs. I have been really fortunate to have support from different networks while raising my first two girls. When Neriah (now 7) was a baby, she traveled to 40 countries -- wherever I hosted Wild On. I never went anywhere with out her. We were a "package deal. With Sierra (5), I was hosting a show in Los Angeles, and she was always on set with me. Rain, my youngest, has been the luckiest of all: she has her mommy at home. I have not been working on a show since she was born so she is getting me full time. When I do have appointments, I often bring her with me. I try to limit my time away from her.

Modern Mom: What did your parents teach you about parenting?

Brooke: Unconditional love. I have a very close friendship with my mother that is so valuable to me. We can talk about anything, and I really trust her. I hope to maintain a similar, open and respectful relationship with my girls.

Modern Mom: What do you want to teach your children?

Brooke: Self-respect and the confidence to explore and succeed at new things. I expect them to be generous and appreciative of the privileges they have. Manners are high on our list of priorities. I teach them to be kind. I discipline them through structure and I use a point reward system.

Modern Mom: What's your favorite family activity?

Brooke: We have so many. We spend a lot of time on the beach. My older girls love to play games. We travel together, have family dinners each night, and we really love "special nights" when we all sleep together.

Modern Mom: What is your greatest achievement?

Brooke: Being a mother.

Modern Mom: What products can't you live without?

Brooke: The Baby Bjorn baby carrier, DDF lip gloss, bottled water, sun screen.

Modern Mom: What do you do when you're feeling selfish?

Brooke: Relax to my "easy listening" playlist on my iPod. Steal a nap in the middle of the day (that usually means hiding somewhere where no children can find me!). I also really enjoy walking in the mountain in silence.

Modern Mom: What's keeping you busy these days?

Brooke: I am producing a TV show that we are currently pitching to the networks. I am also buried in construction on the new home David and I are building for our family. And, I'm dabbling into a few other business ventures that are too premature to discuss yet, but I am very excited about them.
