Lolita: What is your greatest achievement?
Eva: That's more of an internal answer. It wouldn't be my career, my house or having a child because I don't see a child as an achievement. I think my greatest achievement was physically and emotionally mending and moving on from my divorce. Going back to California and leaving a job I loved in New York was the scariest thing for me. But I knew it was what I had to do to heal and move on. Just building up the guts to leave what I knew and face the complete unknown was an achievement in itself.
Lolita: What product(s) can't you live without?
Eva: Coffee and Claritin. I'm allergic to everything from horse hair, to pollen spores and pretty much all the grasses in California, which hit me hard when I moved here two years ago. Before that when I lived in New York City I couldn't even walk through Central Park in the spring because I'd sneeze uncontrollably and get very itchy. Now even when I'm at work things like dust trigger my allergy symptoms. On the set of CSI: Miami I have tons of lines to memorize so I can't afford to be in an allergy fog. The only thing that really works for me is Claritin because it doesn't make me drowsy and it gives me all-day relief so I can be alert and focused. And of course the coffee helps too!
Lolita: What do you do when you're feeling selfish?
Eva: I plan a spa day - though I don't allow myself to do it often. I usually even feel guilty for doing that. And, once a year if I'm feeling really selfish, I'll even try to plan a four-day island getaway when Kaya is away with her dad. Sometimes Ill just go by myself - no friends or family - because I really want to be alone and speak to no one at all.
Lolita: What's keeping you busy these days?
Eva: Right now, we're almost at the end of our hiatus from CSI:Miami so we'll begin filming and doing publicity for the show soon. Then my time will be split 50/50 between work and Kaya. She's starting kindergarten in the fall, and I'll have to squeeze in time for her extracurriculars and volunteering at her school.
I'm also participating in the Perfectly Clear Day sweepstakes where readers can visit www.claritin.com to enter to win a trip to Los Angeles and spend the day horseback riding with me. Plus, I'm a spokesperson for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, so I have plenty keeping me busy.
