Floating Candles

A great centerpiece for your romantic dinner for two after you put the kids to bed.

You'll need:

  • Glass bowl
  • Rocks
  • Red, white and pink paint
  • Brushes
  • Floating candle (make sure it is a floating candle)

Here's what you do:

1. Show your child how to use the paintbrush and paint the rocks red, white and pink. (For added fun, you could glue on some glitter or sequins too.) Allow to dry.

2. Show your child how to carefully place the rocks in the glass bowl. Fill the bowl with water, leaving about 1 1/2 inches at the top. Let your child place the floating candles on top.

Valentine Shower Curtain

This craft can be done for any holiday. And what a great way to make little ones in potty training want to go to the bathroom!

You'll need:

  • White shower curtain liner
  • Paint (red, pink and white)
  • Brushes
  • Sponges
  • Decorative ribbon

Here's what you do:

1. Lay the shower curtain out on the driveway, or on a surface covered with protective paper. (Tip: It's a good idea to lay the shower curtain out a few days ahead of time to get rid of the folds.)

2. Now comes the fun part! Let your child decorate the shower curtain with the paint. He can make up his own designs, stamp with sponge shapes, color in heart shapes you have already made or add his own handprints. Allow his finished masterpiece to dry completely, then hang. A decorative ribbon could also be threaded through the holes to add even more flair.
