Lose 7 Pounds in 7 Days
How many moms find ourselves so overwhelmed day after day, taking care of everybody else that the last person we even consider taking care of… is ourselves?
Yeah, me too.
So when I had the opportunity to try a 6-week fitness challenge recently, I jump-squatted at the chance. I was put on a strict diet and intense workout schedule that toned, tightened and made me drop 15 pounds in six weeks – no joke.
Many people asked me what my secret was.So with the help of trainer-extraordinaire and father of two Josh Carter, here are the seven tips that kicked my butt into fighting shape, and they can do the same for you. This is taken directly from his e-book, minus the colorful language. Read it in its full no-holds-barred glory.
Eat Do not starve yourself. Eat 4-5 small meals per day, concentrating on lean proteins, fibrous vegetables and health fats. Josh says to limit fruits and any other source of concentrated carbs (my hardest challenge!). Start the day with a good breakfast of either Omega 3 eggs or a protein shake.
Eat at Home A recent study showed that people who regularly eat out consume over 30% more calories per meal. (Shhh, don't tell him about the two glasses of wine that I throw in for good measure).
Write it Down
Whether eating out or at home, write down what you eat. I have mentioned this many times: in a study where 2 groups were assigned the same diet, the group that wrote down what they ate lost 50% more weight.
Drop the Carbs (and give me 20)
This you should do anyway, but especially for the next few days. For every gram of carbs stored in your body, 3 grams of water are stored. By dropping the carbs you can easily lose 4-5 pounds of water weight within a few days. Lose that winter bloat = lose the carbs. (I know, he's a total buzz kill… but it works!)
Stick with only non‐caloric drinks: tea, water, coffee, diet soda etc. The closer to plain water the better. And yes, that means no alcohol. (Like I said… buzz kill. But at least I can have my coffee!)
Take your fish oil capsules. Fish oil (among the hundreds of other benefits) can increase your metabolism by 400 calories per day.
Move Have you got four minutes? Once a day, alternate squats and pushups each for 20 seconds, with 10 seconds of rest between. (You will be surprised at how sore you'll be!) If you have time, follow it with a 20-minute walk around the neighborhood. This will fire up your metabolism for up to 48 hours. (No joke – 48 hours)
