Parent Moments: Planning for the Big Day
What a blessing you had to have your mother inlaw with you during those tough times. God works in mysterious ways. He had it all planned. My son in law is very proud of me too. He told my daughter that if anything ever happened to her he would not get married again. He would just keep me. I am blessed to be able to take care of my grandchildren. Raising my kids was a wonderful experience, but grandchildren are the icing on the cake.

My husband and I planned to have 2 children and were blessed with a beautiful daughter and handsome son. They are now 20 and 16 - they grew up making Family Fun crafts and visiting sites suggested by readers. Our plan for a perfect family was complete...or so we thought. 27 months ago I found out I was pregnant at the age of 41! Our plan was retirement not a baby! Trusting God we planned for our new arrival - knowing this baby had a special purpose. What we didn't know was that our 6lb 2 oz little girl would save my life. During delivery I developed a blood clot that went from my abdomen to just above my ankle - I learned I had a vascular condition and that over time my body was destroying a vein in my abdomen. Had I not gotten pregnant and delivered in a very good hospital I would have slowly developed a blood clot that would have claimed my leg and possibly life. Our baby was part of God's life plan for us. She is beautiful and being a mom at 40 + is wonderful!

There are no accidents, only God's divine plan. Although we fret, plan and prepare for plan B, etc., inevitably we err, as in Daddy's homecoming date. Thankfully, even when we're late, He isn't. God's timing is perfect. He did good, didn't He?

What a LUCKY girl, to be surrounded by such love and support!! Nice to hear that others are the organizing type, it usually makes life easier but then again unborn babies don't really understand "organization"!! Glad to hear everything went well.

Unless you schedule cesarian surgery birth,of course you can't control time and day of your children to come,that's what I hard learn after 3 natural birth,my older daughter born like 1 week before the due date,the second like 5 days before, ahhh! but my youngest make his mark he came 8 days after his due, of course the doctor don't let me go back home after that day check up, because I was so ready to deliver but my boy have others plans, so the lesson, unless surgery scheduled don't bother plan to much with child births

You have to expect the unexpected as my husband says. As a huge planner this was hard for me to grasp but you have to go with the flow especially with more than one!

Just goes to show, when it comes to birthing babies, the best laid plans go out the window! As far as the human race has come, there's only so much planning you can do. Then, Mother Nature steps in.

I read this story with interest. It is not an easy thing to plan for every possible scenario. I think this mother did everything possible to anticipate any possible event. Her mother-in-law should be given a medal! She went with the flow, and in the end, of course, everything worked out. Congratulations to everyone involved and thanks for sharing a wonderful story.

I realized by the time my third son came along that plans are good but the only plan is God's plan. I had a month to go on my last pregnancy (which followed Murphy's Law) when my water broke. I called the kennel to board my dog, called my in-laws to come and stay with the kids, cleaned up the kitchen, took a shower, and packed a bag. I told my husband to take his time and finish up anything at work and finally went to the hospital. I felt like a pro and if I needed to deliver this baby myself, so be it! Of course, if my husband was in the military I would have planned as much as Shannon Riggs. I think if you don't have any expectations about anything then there are no worries or disappointments. What a cute story and did anyone else feel exhausted for her after reading this?

AS A MOTHER OF 4 CHILDREN AND 4 GRANDBABIES, YOU SURE HAD TO DO ALOT OF PLAN A THROUGH Q. I LEARNED AFTER MY FIRST BABY THAT NO PLAN IN THE WORLD IS GOING TO MAKE THE BABY, THE SIBLINGS, OR THE FATHER WORK IN THE RIGHT WAYS. BUT I WILL TELL YOU THAT YOU DID REAL GOOD GIRL. ALL YOUR PLANNING LEAD YOU RIGHT BACK TO YOR ORIGANAL PLANS.
