Parent Moments: Double Trouble
Well look on the bright side, a nice colorful tattoo will make telling them apart easy for a long time!

We have twins as well, adopted from China. You wouldn't believe the comments we get. Some of my favorites:
"Did they come with papers? (They aren't show dogs, lady.)
"Do they speak English?" (They were 3 months old at the time.
"Are you going to tell them they are adopted?" (We are caucasian, so we are pretty sure they will figure it out.)
Twins are a double blessing, though, we wouldnt trade ours for the world.

The good and bad side of being a twin sometimes has a fine line. Im not a twin but i have dated one, well twice actually. My mom actually found out the hard way at a swim meet that my boyfriend had a twin. She was walking to the stands and ran into who she thought was my boyfriend, tried to say hi and give him a hug like when he came over to the house and he gave her the look youd give someone that youve never met in your life, the why are you talking to me, you strange person, look- she was so confused until she got back to her seat and my boyfriend came up to say hi and explained who she really ran into. So twins beware, if someone is creeping you out acting like they know you- they probably know your twin. Funny for some, confusing for others, still a good laugh.

We have 4 total, two boys, two girls. the boys are older, but the same age difference of two years apart as the girls. Its amazing how each boy has their younger "counterpart." Ive never really wished that I had twins, we have a family friend who has twins who look and act nothing alike, however they do "twin them up" by buying and wearing identical clothing, etc. We here in ohio have a town called twinsburg, which actually holds a twins festival yearly that is attended from people worldwide, and worth a look, if you have twins.

If I had a dollar for everytime someone asked me if my girls are twins I'd probably be as rich as Donald Trump. Although my girls havent yet pulled the old switch-a-roo (even though they are identical),I can definetly relate with all the other stuff. They complain about not being able to have seperate lives but even at almost 12 yrs old I still can't get them to sleep in seperate beds. LOL Its certainly an adventure being a mother of twins.

My cousin and his wife are the proud parents of two sets of twins. They went from being a couple to a family of 6 within 3 years. Crazy! This article reminded me of the lesson she taught me before I was even a mom. No child is the same, even identical twins. She should know. My girls (not twins) are complete opposites. I felt like super mom with my first, but the second was a little more challenging. It's funny, I never thought I would have to use two different parenting styles within our family. My cousin was right...No kid is the same.

As the mother of twin 5 year old girls, I appreciated reading about your experiences educating the girls. My girls are entering kindergarten this year and they will be separated for the first time. They will probably be fine and I will be a basket case for a few days. Thanks for the inspiration. We have had so much fun with them and watching them grow, and there is a whole lot more in store for them and for us.

I can remember as a little girl wanting to be a mother of twins when I grew up. Well, that wish came true on 27Oct2000 when I gave birth to my identical sons. I swore that I would let them be individual, not dress them the same etc. but unfortunately I haven't followed through with that. I have gotten better about the clothes thing not to mention that my sons now dress themselves and seldom dress alike. One thing I must say though is that I have chosen to keep my sons in the same class. This decision was made based on the fact that they have delayed speech. The oldest has a better speech pattern than the other so it has been good for them to stay together. They not only complete each other but they can complete sentences when needed. These are my only children but I do believe that they will let us know when they need their independence from each other. I know when that time comes I will honor that but for now it is a good thing for them to be together.

My husband is an identical twin. We met in high school and though the boys were alot alike when I met them that changed over the year. It was there jr year and grant (my husband was the one with the bowl cut hair, high waters and a striped shirt with the aligater on it. To cute! His brother greg was the one who started growing out his hair and wearing a black trench coat. Although we still all hung out together sometimes and the boys were boys when grant and I became close it was harder for greg beacuse that was his other half. Him and I butted heads ALOT! We are now friends with quite the story and I adore his kids but when we all get together which is not often because of distance the boys are boys again and I remember my place. They share a bond I dont think anyone will ever understand! I think its wonderful and not even the happiest people in the world could be that conected. They may stray from eachother but they will always be conected in a seemingly magical way.

I think no matter how much you want your twins to have separate lives, it doesn't matter what you do it is a twin thing. I think twins are great I have a couple of friends with twins and they say you just can not ever keep them apart.
