  • Don't overmix??? We drop everything into the blender and vvvvvvvvvvvvvv batter is ready! We even (gasp) make it the night before and put it in the fridge and vvvvvvvvvvvvvv batter is ready faster! Maybe that would satisfy Birdy! 8 )

  • I will try this one soon. We LOVED the egg noodles with ham and peas!!!!!! Fresh bread crumbs- who knew?! I'm waiting for it to snow to try the maple snow taffy. We liked the soy-glazed tofu, too. I wouldn't mind seeing more recipes featuring tofu (since you asked). Thank you, really.

  • sounds yummy---i have made this with sliced apples and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and maple syrup. My children's two favorite foods are pancakes and apples but ironically, they do not like them together. I'll give your recipe a try.
loving the new food column---have made the plum cake, granola, gingerbread, corn chowder, dinner beans (cucumbers) and frozen some tomato paste. Tomorrow night is noodles with ham and peas. It has been fun to follow along with the column.
Lunch ideas are always welcome, as would anything with chocolate---maybe a good brownie recipe that doesn't turn rock solid hard two minutes out of the oven?!?

  • Yes to the lunch ideas! And maybe more soups to get us through these freakishly cold days. And stews perhaps? I am a big fan of the one-pot meals!

  • Hey Catherine -
I'm curious, do you pack lunches for your kids? Do you send leftovers, or do you make something special? We have to be mindful of allergies, so no PB&J for my kiddos. Two are at a school that can reheat, so they frequently get leftovers. One has to eat his brown bag lunch cold. As you can imagine, I'm challenged for ideas on things to pack to keep things interesting for them. Would love some recipes/ideas - especially for the cold lunch. He can only eat so many ham and cheese sandwiches - or the same rolled in a tortilla. Turns out, that isn't a very interesting variation. Thanks! Dale

  • This looks very much like my recipe for Yorkshire Pudding which I make with beef fat instead of butter, and also bake in large muffin tins so that each person gets a coveted "edge piece" of their very own.
Future recipe ideas? How about more that feature legumes? I loved the Dinner Beans recipe. Thank you, as always!
