Scared of Santa

15-month-old son, Aiden visited the Legendary Santa this past Saturday. I just hope that Legendary Santa does not decide to opt for retirement after Aiden's visit. He was in a great mood during our 2 hour wait at the Children’s Museum but the moment he sat on Santa’s lap his smiling face quickly changed to terrified. Aiden stared at Santa’s long white beard and he decided to live by the motto: be naughty and save Santa the trip.

Tell Your Christmas Story

We recently moved back to our home city so our 16 month old son Aiden, will be closer to family & friends. At the same time his maternal grandparents moved here to be closer to him. This is the first Christmas that Aiden’s extended family will be together for the holidays in 3 years.

My husband and I waited a very long time for Aiden to join our lives and he is a true miracle and blessing for us. This photo is so special to us because it is the first visit to and photo of what will be one of our family's Christmas traditions. Although we plan on visiting Richmond's legendary Santa a yearly event we hope that next Christmas Aiden will be excited and happy to see Santa.

Another reason this photo is so special to me is that for me it represents the early stages of what will hopefully be a stable, happy childhood/life for our son. Santa is a long standing tradition shared by generations and across cultures. The yearly photo will be a visual documentation of his childhood. I’m glad that his first visit resulted in the classic scared photo – although I don’t like that my son was scared I know that he is in good company with the thousands of other kids that have terrified tot photos. I hope that in the future he will share this photo with his family, his children and that it will bring a smile and a laugh to all he chooses to share his life with.
