Tell Your Christmas Story

Every year "Team Larsen" get together and trys to bring the spirit of Christmas home; not only to our family, but to all who pass by. This year this display took us about 56 hours to complete. We try to start somewhere after Holloween in an attempt to secure a final lighting date on Thanksgiving; however, with this years weather we missed our target date by two weeks. Never the less we have completed and average about 40 cars a night. The constant passing of cars is nice, but it's the constant repeats of those who live around us that makes this traffic special. Parents are forced by there children to come by and see the lights prior to returning to there homes; for us this means that we have done something magical for someone else and if this keeps the spirit of Christmas bright and alive in their hearts than the time we spend doing Christmas is worht every minute.

For years we have done this to multiple house and have nevered entered into contest until this past year. My daughter who is a country fan heard of a contest been held by a local radio station and thought we should enter. The prize to the winning light display would receive two (2) tickect to Martinia McBride; long story short we won. Winning this contest was more than competing for us, when my daughter was rewarded by being able to see and get up on stage with Martina McBride to help sing a song, it was then and there that I seen that i might be able to give something to my family they so richly deserve. The lesson of doing something for others and that with hard work and pride in your work you can receive rewards and recogniztion. However, the best lesson we have been able to teach our children is the spirit of Christmas come first and winning isn't everything.
