I love photography, but taking pictures of my own family is always challenging. My mom took the time to make these special, coordinating dresses for my girls and I wanted to send her some nice pictures as a thank you/christmas gift. As always, we'd waited until the last minute after a good week of rain and days without any sunshine. Finally, the day arrived. It seemed such a simple goal to get a few nice shots of the kids. But as soon as I had the camera up to my eye, they were ready to put on a show. Most surprising was our five year old daughter(left in the picture), who really hammed it up with some hilarious faces. It's usually her older sister that tries to take the spotlight. When we downloaded all the photos we had several "great shots" and a whole lots of silly ones. We used the nice smiling shots for cards and presents, but the truth is, I just love all of the silly faces and laughter between the kids. To me, this photo reveals our true family, much more than the perfectly posed smile.
