Tell Your Christmas Story

It takes a family effort to find the perfect Christmas tree to grace our living room window. We began the tradition when our oldest was one year old at my sister's and brother in law's tree farm. He could barely wade through the snow, but marveled as the snow covered tree ended up in the window of our first home. Four years later, his brother joined us. Eventually, hot chocolate and cookies were added to the tree hunting adventure. When their sister, adopted from Vietnam, joined our family, we had a third little opinion to consider when choosing our tree. It hasn't always been focused tree perusal. There's often snowball fights and hide-n-seek among the evergreens - most often instigated by daddy. There's always laughter. This year the son that could barely make his way through Michigan's snow fall to pick that first family tree, was driving the truck through the snow of the family tree farm to find that perfect tree. Where has the time gone? It's wrapped up in the laughter and echoes of little voices calling from their hiding places behind a blue spruce. The time is trailing behind the sightings of white tail deer as they bound off between the trees. The time is captured in photographs of each tree of each year as it's chosen, cut and proudly driven home to grace the living room window.
