Brief Description:

I love Halloween and was so excited to dress up my son River who is 16 months old for Halloween.River loves horses and he loves to eat, so I thought he would make a great cowboy on a chuck wagon! The wagon worked out great for trick or treating! My mom made a horse pulled chuck wagon out of an old garden cart and handmade his cowboy outfit! His chuck wagon was complete with a water barrel, horse shoe, a triangle to ring bell for dinner, sack of flour, beans & utensils. Yee Ha!

My mom handmade his chaps & vest. He also wore a bandana, cowboy hat, boots with spurs, a holster with guns.

The chuck wagon was reconstructed from an old garden cart. New wooded slats were put in and a seat and footrest added. The canopy was handmade and applied on flexible, plastic piping. The horse was taken off an old rocking horse and attached with pvc piping.

Time to Create:

This costume took my mom a week to make.
Contest Photo Tips and Guidelines:
  • Avoid clutter. Keep the background simple -- your gingerbread house or holiday cookie is the star!
  • Daytime, natural light is best. If your area is bright enough, try taking the photo without the flash.
  • Upload a horizontal photo. If you crop the image on your computer, make sure you keep a landscape 4:3 aspect ratio.
  • For best results, make your image 1200x900 (or "save for web").
  • With a digital camera, you can take as many photos as possible and choose the best one. Have fun!
